Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev won his maiden title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is his first championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court from March of that year.

Victory also indicates he has won 21 titles at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and regular outbursts on court had prompted some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional title, took control to create a final set.

He rescued four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
